Hey, I'm Tonja! I'm a mom of three from Elkton, Maryland, with a passion for beautiful and functional design.
By day, I'm an intelligence analyst specializing in cryptocurrency investigations. By night (and weekends), I run a freelance art and design business, and I'm fully trained in forensic art.
When I'm not analyzing data or drawing portraits, you'll find me decluttering, trying to help my household run as efficiently as possible, or chasing some creative idea that popped into my head and must exist (like painting silly characters into the large landscape painting in my living room). It's the blend of practical problem-solving and creative passion that led me here.
The Story
I would get so overwhelmed by the shopping process every time my kids grew another size: thrift shopping, online shopping, trying to trek through stores with my tots in tow, and then somehow having too much of some things and not enough of others, adorable pieces with no outfit to which they go, ill-fitting items, poor quality items, then piles of laundry, stuffed drawers... you might know the drill.
When my firstborn hit 3 months and I was already drowning in baby clothes chaos, I had a revelation: What if I could buy ONE complete set of clothes that was simple, adorable, well-fitting, and actually worked together? Spoiler alert: It didn't exist.
So I created it.
In my search, I had discovered the world of "capsule wardrobes," a term coined in the 1970s by a London boutique owner named Susie Faux. She defined the capsule wardrobe as "a collection of a few essential items of clothing that don't go out of fashion, such as skirts, trousers, and coats, which can then be augmented with seasonal pieces," for women. I decided to put it to the test, baby style. Through the next few years, I tried various methods of shopping for my daughter, and then my second baby, a little boy. I based the kids' wardrobes around mostly good-quality unisex items so I could continue using them with my next babies, then added gender specific pieces to finish it out.
After 3 years of learning and testing and thinking, I started telling friends about my capsule wardrobe idea. With lots of help and encouragement, I officially started this project in November of 2018. Since then, I polled moms near and far to learn about their favorite baby clothing items, ordered and tested product like crazy, and now I have put together mini capsule wardrobes, available for sale here.
These first wardrobes are unisex monochrome and come in sizes ranging from newborn to 12 months. I have gathered the perfect mixture of clothing items, packaged them up to be ready to ship.
THEN... I had a baby a month after our biggest launch. We personally used and loved the capsule wardrobes! ... And I hope you or someone in your life would be able to love this, too.
Thank you so much for visiting my shop!
